The tower of the Beaver Island Light Station, located on Beaver Island, Michigan, is open to the public year round. The lighthouse is owned by
Charlevoix Public Schools and is primarily used as a residential alternative education facility. Operation and maintenance is a cooperative effort of
the Michigan Works! Division of Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District and Charlevoix Public Schools. (For more information on the Lighthouse School, see the Lighthouse School Home Page.)
| Grants and contributions totalling $510,000 were received for the restoration and repair of the lighthouse and fog signal building; a project which was completed in 2004. Contributors were: |
